It's so easy to be overwhelmed by boxes of old stuff you don't know what to do with, or even know the meaning of.  The idea of keeping boxes in an attic, basement or garage is unappealing, and the prospect of actually going through them is even more daunting. Those boxes are important though, they hold the stories of your family history, values and experiences.

Visual communication has been my career focus but historical research is my personal passion. While on the Board of Directors and as archivist for my local historical society, I learned how historical societies manage the diverse items they receive (just like the boxes in your garage!) and what resources are available.
